On the 14th July 2007..There was a nother major change in the look of Serian Town. In the early dawn, a fire blazed and burnt down 14 rows of the oldest buildings in town. When you come in by road from Sri Aman, after the smallest round about going towards Shell kiosk, they were on the right. It was quite sad. My sympathy to the owner and the biz guys. Now every bodys seem to be complaing about the fire dept 500m away and their very slow respond. But the local paper reported that they responded in 2 mins. What nonsense is that? If 2 mins , only 1 or 2 shops would be damaged.
